ABOUT US

In Our Own Words:

StoryMotion Studios is a creative husband and wife team of Katya and Arthur. That's us! :)

We are high school sweethearts, who by now have spent together greater part of our lives. We are very proud parents to a wonderful boy, who is our reason for everything and who is our greatest cheerleader. Because of him, we have an even greater appreciation for importance of preserving and re-telling family history. Our experiences as parents have been so incredibly helpful in keeping our hearts and eyes open to little moments happening during the events we document for our clients.

We love weddings, working with people at their happiest and having fun together. Our photography allowed us opportunity to travel places, meet people, experience cultures, and hear, as well as document, stories we wouldn’t have had a chance to encounter otherwise, and our lives are forever enriched by that. Over the years, many of our clients have turned into our dear and cherished friends.

We love to travel, watch movies, go to museums, read, watch hockey (GO CAPS!), and mostly spend as much time as possible with our little love bug. We love to push each other creatively. While we document the events for our clients together, and the style we've became known for is a combination of our individual styles; those who know us well have seen a bit of a friendly competition between two of us to create the most unique and story-telling images for our clients, as well as to lead the other by the most photography awards won.

In Arthur's words:

Katya is a hopeless romantic and a self-professed "emotion junkie." Mom or Dad's tears of joy, sparkle in the Groom's eyes as he watches his beloved on the wedding day, your Uncle's infectious laugh, your best friends happy jitters, happiness or nervousness in your smile - she wants you to remember and relive it all, for months and years after the wedding; and, maybe, one day share with your kids just how it felt to be there on your wedding day. Once a bride herself, and now also a Mom, she has a special way of observing and capturing some of the most intimate and happiest moments of the day. Her creativity has been rewarded numerous times by various national and international awards in photography and cinematography.

Katya takes pure joy in helping our couples with any planning aspect of the wedding she can. She is happy to offer her assistance in planning the timeline, making creative and other decisions, and just giving a helping hand. She's been known to help calming Brides', or Moms', nerves, communicating last minute details, and trying to let everybody enjoy their day as much as possible, and have been named "an honorary bridesmaid" by our brides more than a few times! :)

She'll be the first to admit that she smiles and sometimes cries, on occasion, seeing our past clients mark important celebrations and losses in their lives by sharing the memories we have created for them for over 10+ years.

In Katya's words:

Arthur is a teddy bear. He's always cool, calm and collected. He wants you to have just as much fun with your photographs, as he does creating it for you. He loves experimenting and taking risks, constantly looking for new and unusual angles, light and shade interplay and unique compositions. His ninja-like moves with the camera, which he often uses when shooting dancing or Baraat (Indian Groom's procession) have drawn comments in the past, and even more amused compliments at the outcome in the photos. :)

A son of a photographer, he's been saying that he's been running around with the camera since he was five. Art, travel, history, science, and computers are among his many passions in life. He's proud to call himself a "nerd" and a "news junkie."
